"Light and Tasty Alcohol is Trending"... Emart Expands RTD Zone and Product Range
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Emart announced on the 18th that it will increase the number of RTD items and create a separate RTD zone within stores to strengthen its grocery competitiveness.
RTD refers to ready-to-drink alcoholic beverages that are pre-mixed cocktails or similar drinks. These are liquors such as vodka or rum mixed with carbonated drinks or juices, or beers and sparkling water with added various flavors. They generally have a relatively low alcohol content and a light taste, making them easy to enjoy.
Emart has significantly increased the number of RTD items, expanding from about 30 products earlier this year to over 70 products currently, more than doubling the selection. Among these are about 20 unique RTDs called "Hard Seltzer," which are popular in the United States. Hard Seltzer is an alcoholic sparkling water made by adding alcohol and flavor to carbonated water. It is characterized by a relatively low calorie count of around 100 calories per can and an alcohol content of about 5%.
Since last month, Emart has renovated its imported beer sections to introduce RTD zones. RTD zones have been created in a total of 15 stores, including Emart Wangsimni, Gayang, and Yeongdeungpo branches, doubling the display area. In the second half of this year, Emart plans to add RTD zones to 60 more stores and continuously expand the range of products offered.
