Gyeonggi Institute of Economy and Science Promotes Specialized Technical Training Program in Science and Engineering
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Economic Science Promotion Agency are recruiting companies for employment agreements under the 'STEM Specialized Technical Training Project' to resolve the supply-demand imbalance between workforce demand in industrial sites and unemployed STEM graduates.
Companies selected as employment agreement partners will receive generous benefits such as ▲training expenses for prospective hires ▲allowances for prospective hires ▲technical guidance fees for corporate training (2 months).
SilkroadSoft Co., Ltd. (Suwon City), a company that participated in the project last year, hired big data trainees through corporate training.
Konep Co., Ltd. (Gwangmyeong City) employed five mechanical design trainees from 2018 to 2020.
The Gyeonggi Economic Science Promotion Agency has been supporting workforce discovery and employment through this project since 2008. This year, training is being conducted in two fields for unemployed STEM graduates (including junior college graduates): 'Big Data Analysis based on JAVA and Python' and '3D Mechanical Design (CATIA).' Currently, a total of 93 trainees are participating.

A representative from the Gyeonggi Economic Science Promotion Agency stated, "In the employment market frozen due to COVID-19, 97 out of 100 trainees completed the program in 2020, and among them, 88 were employed, achieving an employment rate of 90.7%. Considering the average employment rate of 90.4% over the past three years, the training project can be seen as making a significant contribution to alleviating youth unemployment."
