Gwangju Seo-gu Provides 'Mobile Healthcare' Service for Elementary Students
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Seo Dae-seok) announced on the 15th that it has been selected for the 'Child and Adolescent Mobile Healthcare Pilot Project' organized by the Korea Health Promotion Institute and will provide customized health management services to elementary school students in the district.
This 'Child and Adolescent Mobile Healthcare Project,' hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, is a project that provides health management services such as health monitoring and monthly reports through smart bands and mobile apps, similar to the existing adult mobile healthcare.
Seo-gu plans to increase participants' interest by providing daily health missions and class group missions considering students' individual characteristics, and encourage continuous participation by offering incentives to outstanding participating students.
They also established the nation's first collaborative model for health and fitness improvement by providing fitness measurement services linked with the Gwangju Seo-gu Fitness Certification Center's 'National Fitness 100' project, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Seo-gu selected Geumho Elementary School as the pilot school and plans to provide this service to 5th and 6th-grade students starting from the 19th. If the effectiveness of the mobile health management service for children and adolescents is verified through the pilot project, the service provision will be gradually expanded.
A Seo-gu official said, "As non-face-to-face health management services have become important due to COVID-19, we will do our best to help students manage their health on their own, fostering proper habits and improving self-health management abilities."
