Gwangju Dong-gu 'Chungjang Festival' Wins Silver Award at Korea's Representative Festival Expo
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 14th that it recently won the Silver Award in the Basic Local Government category of the Korea Best Festival at the ‘1st Korea Representative Festival Expo’ held at BEXCO in Busan.
From the 9th to the 11th, Dong-gu operated a promotional booth at the expo hosted by the Korea Local Newspaper Association, organized by Korea Exhibition Industry Co., Ltd., and supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Korea Tourism Organization, and the Council of Governors of Korea, with 174 booths including 107 local governments and 67 companies participating.
Dong-gu received high evaluations in judging criteria such as on-site operation and promotion, content, and booth setup, earning the honor of the award.
At this expo, Dong-gu promoted the ‘18th Memory of Chungjang Festival’ under the theme ‘Healing Tonic YES Chungjang Festival.’
In particular, visitors attracted by the dance skills of the festival characters ‘Chungjangi’ and ‘Geumnami’ were introduced to ▲ Gwangju Dong-gu Tourism Month (May and October) ▲ Gwangju Cultural Heritage Night Tour, and enjoyed nostalgic lottery and curling events, receiving various festival souvenirs and fun.
