The garlic seedling production and supply system construction project aims to address the productivity decline caused by the degeneration of garlic seed stock and to reduce the use of imported seed stock. The project supplies garlic produced by sowing garlic cloves (first-generation clove garlic) to enable seed stock multiplication.
Garlic seed stock degenerates as generations pass, requiring continuous renewal. Garlic seed stock cultivated through clove cultivation shows a lower virus infection rate, expresses the seed's inherent characteristics, increases yield by 10-30%, and has a lower incidence of pests and diseases.
The expected supply amount of clove seed stock in the county this year is 48 tons, and it is estimated that farmers who sowed 24 hectares in 2021 to multiply garlic will be able to renew about 220 hectares.
