People's Solidarity for Participatory Democracy and Minbyun file complaint to prosecution requesting exercise of "Samsung in-house catering favoritism accusation right"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] The People's Solidarity for Participatory Democracy and the Lawyers for a Democratic Society (Minbyun) announced on the 13th that they have submitted a petition to the Prosecutor General and the Minister of SMEs and Startups, requesting the exercise of the right to request prosecution regarding Samsung Welstory's internal catering preferential treatment.
They also argued that the Fair Trade Commission should prosecute Lee Boo-jin, CEO of Hotel Shilla (then Strategic President of Samsung Everland), Choi Yoon-ho, Executive Director of the Strategy Team 1 at the Future Strategy Office, Jung Hyun-ho, President of Samsung Electronics Business Support TF, and companies such as Samsung Display, Samsung SDI, and Samsung Electro-Mechanics.

The Fair Trade Commission previously imposed a record-high total fine of approximately 234.9 billion KRW for unfair support related to internal catering preferential treatment involving Samsung Electronics and three other companies, as well as Samsung Welstory, which supplies catering. It also decided to prosecute former Future Strategy Office Chief Choi Ji-sung and Samsung Electronics to the prosecution.
