[AK Opinion Poll] Yoon Seok-yeol Barely Maintains 1st Place... 'Significant Drop in Approval Rating'
Presidential Candidate Suitability Survey
Yoon Seok-yeol 26.4% vs Lee Jae-myung 25.8% vs Lee Nak-yeon 16.4%
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol was found to be slightly ahead of Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myung within the margin of error in the next presidential candidate support survey. While Yoon's approval rating showed a significant decline compared to the poll conducted two weeks ago, the approval rating of former Democratic Party leader Lee Nak-yeon, who formed the top three, showed a significant increase, drawing attention.
Asia Economy commissioned Win-G Korea Consulting to conduct a public opinion poll from the 10th to 11th targeting 1,011 voters aged 18 and over nationwide (100% mobile phone virtual numbers, automated response). As a result, former Prosecutor General Yoon recorded 26.4% in the next presidential candidate support survey, maintaining first place. Yoon was ahead of Governor Lee, who came in second with 25.8%, by 0.6 percentage points, which is within the margin of error.
Although former Prosecutor General Yoon, who has embarked on full-scale political activities, maintained first place, it is noteworthy that his approval rating showed a downward trend. Compared to the public opinion poll conducted by Asia Economy through Win-G Korea Consulting on the 26th and 27th of last month (targeting 1,009 voters aged 18 and over nationwide, with a sampling error of ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level, 100% mobile phone virtual numbers via wireless ARS), Yoon's approval rating fell by 4.3 percentage points. Win-G Korea Consulting analyzed that "the decline was due to various adverse factors, including issues related to his wife." During the same period, Governor Lee also showed a decline of 0.8 percentage points.
On the other hand, former leader Lee's approval rating rose by 6.9 percentage points to 16.4%. As the Democratic Party presidential primary intensified, the upward trend in his approval rating became prominent. With former leader Lee's approval rating rising after being relatively weak compared to Governor Lee, who had overshadowed him, attention is focused on whether there will be changes in the Yoon Seok-yeol?Lee Jae-myung two-strong structure. Following them were People Power Party lawmaker Hong Joon-pyo (4.8%), former Minister of Justice Chu Mi-ae (4.7%), former Board of Audit and Inspection Chairman Choi Jae-hyung (4.1%), and former lawmaker Yoo Seung-min (3.2%).
Among the entire survey respondents, when limiting to Democratic Party supporters, Governor Lee's approval rating was 43.3%. Former leader Lee was at 34.5%, former Minister of Justice Chu Mi-ae at 7.0%, and former Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun at 4.9%. Among People Power Party supporters, former Prosecutor General Yoon showed an absolute advantage with a 58.1% approval rating. Following him were lawmaker Hong at 11.3%, former Chairman Choi at 6.8%, former Governor Lee at 5.5%, and former lawmaker Yoo at 4.9%.
