Coolata, made by blending ice and fruit together, is Dunkin’s representative summer drink that was first launched in 1995 in the United States and has gained popularity worldwide. Dunkin has newly introduced the ‘Shine Muscat Coolata’ and ‘Pina Colada Coolata’ for the summer season.
Dunkin’s advertising slogan is ‘This Summer, Coolata,’ which conveys the meaning of cooling off the stifling moments of summer heat with Dunkin Coolata. The slogan was created based on the similarity in pronunciation between ‘keunilda’ (meaning ‘big trouble’) and ‘Coolata.’
The viral video begins with scenes of a stifling city during summer as reported in the news. Along with a voice expressing concern about the heat, saying ‘This summer (because it’s hot), we’re in big trouble,’ the slogan ‘This Summer, Coolata’ appears, and cool Coolata ice pouring from the sky covers the whole world, washing away the heat.
