[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Sumi] An incident occurred where the delivery agency owner assaulted a delivery driver who contacted him about delivery fees, causing injury.
According to a JTBC report on the 11th, Mr. Jo, in his 40s, who works as a delivery driver in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, was severely injured with broken ribs and nasal bones after being assaulted by the delivery agency owner, Mr. Kim.
The report states that Mr. Jo contacted Mr. Kim because he received payment corresponding to a shorter distance than the actual delivery distance. Mr. Jo said in an interview with JTBC, "I completed a delivery over a long distance of more than 3.5 km, but it was recorded as 2.4 km, and the amount for 2.4 km was shown in the program." He also added that this had happened several times.
When Mr. Jo requested data from Mr. Kim to compare with other delivery drivers, an argument ensued. JTBC reported that Mr. Kim then went to Mr. Jo's house and assaulted him using a wooden stick about 2 meters long.
Mr. Kim reportedly admitted to assaulting Mr. Jo but denied embezzling delivery fees.
