Seongdong-gu Issues Administrative Order Prohibiting Drinking in Parks and Streams
Administrative Order Prohibiting Drinking in Parks and Rivers from 10 PM to 5 AM... Drinking Banned at 72 Parks and Jungnangcheon, Jeonnongcheon; Groups Gathering to Drink Fined 100,000 KRW and Subject to Reimbursement Claims
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jeong Wono) has implemented an administrative order banning drinking in local parks and rivers since the 8th.
Drinking is prohibited from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day in 72 parks including Seongdong-gu parks and village yards, as well as along Jungnangcheon and Jeonnongcheon streams.
If the administrative order is not followed, a fine of up to 100,000 KRW may be imposed, and in case of violation leading to infection, all costs including quarantine expenses may be claimed by the district.
The district has strictly reviewed the recent trend of cluster infections spreading and the increase in confirmed cases and transmission within the area, and has strengthened social distancing measures targeting places closely related to residents' daily lives.
In particular, to prepare for cases of groups gathering at night to drink and violate quarantine rules, strong administrative measures will be taken to actively respond to the spread of COVID-19 in the community.
On the 5th, ten special inspection teams, each consisting of two members, were formed to conduct special crackdowns on drinking along riverbanks and in parks.
From 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., outdoor mask-wearing and other nighttime quarantine rules were guided, focusing on convenience facilities frequently used by residents and areas with many complaints along the Han River, Jungnangcheon, Cheonggyecheon, and other riverbanks and parks, and the ban on drinking after 10 p.m. was announced.
Meanwhile, following the administrative order requiring all academy workers in the area to undergo COVID-19 testing, an administrative order for COVID-19 testing was implemented for restaurant and cafe operators and workers until August 21.
The subjects include operators (business owners) and workers (including part-time workers) of restaurants and cafes (general, rest food establishments, and bakeries) located in Seongdong-gu, and failure to comply with the administrative order may result in a fine of up to 2 million KRW.
