Nowon-gu's 'Agimaji Clean House' Service Expansion Receives Applause
Project to Protect Health of Immunocompromised Newborns and Mothers...Professional Company Provides Home Visits for Mattress Cover Care, Pest Control, and Sterilization Services for Furniture
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Nowon-gu (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) is expanding the “Baby Welcome Clean House” service to improve the living environment for mothers and newborns.
The “Baby Welcome Clean House” project is designed to protect the health of newborns and mothers with vulnerable immune systems. It was initiated especially to prevent allergic diseases, which frequently occur in children under the age of nine, at an early stage.
A professional living environment hygiene company visits families with newborns to diagnose environmental and genetic factors and plan appropriate pest control services. Baby products and furniture are sterilized and disinfected using safe methods, and bedding such as mattresses is treated to remove house dust and mites, creating a comfortable environment for childbirth and childcare.
The target households for the project are families with three or more children, and households eligible for basic livelihood security or near-poverty support. Starting from June this year, the target has been expanded to include families with only one child if one parent has been diagnosed within the last six months with atopic dermatitis (L20), asthma (J45, J46), or allergic rhinitis (J30), allowing them to apply for the service.
Households wishing to apply can do so by mail or online from 40 days before childbirth up to 30 days after childbirth, or by visiting the public health center.
Required documents include a resident registration certificate, proof of basic livelihood security or near-poverty status, and a diagnosis certificate of allergic diseases issued within the last six months.
Once eligibility is confirmed, applicants receive a usage coupon worth 200,000 KRW and can coordinate with the company to schedule a visit service on their preferred date.
Since this service targets newborns and mothers, hygiene companies are selected considering the safety of the products used and the availability of professional equipment. Continuous monitoring and satisfaction surveys will be conducted to maintain service quality.
Meanwhile, since January this year, the district has been supporting 90% of the out-of-pocket expenses for postpartum care assistant services during home visits. From July, the “Mother and Child Health Center” on the 4th floor of the public health center has been operating to provide professional and systematic support from pregnancy preparation through the prenatal and postnatal periods for mothers and young children.

Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, “Childbirth and childcare are not simply the responsibility of one family but should be carried out with the interest and support of the local community. We will continue to implement various projects to create a healthy and happy childcare environment with the spirit that the village gives birth to and raises children together.”
