Jeju Island Raises Social Distancing to Level 2 Starting from the 12th
[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Chang-won] Jeju Special Self-Governing Province held a briefing on the afternoon of the 9th and announced that social distancing will be raised to Level 2 from the 12th to the 25th.
Jeju Province plans to apply Level 2, which restricts the operating hours of entertainment facilities again until 10 PM and strengthens quarantine measures for multi-use facilities to minimize the spread of infection.
Private gatherings remain limited to 6 people, with no changes to the current system. When using multi-use facilities such as restaurants, cafes, and stores, groups of 7 or more are not allowed to enter together or make reservations.
While applying the revised Level 2, Jeju Province will maintain the limit of 8 people for private gatherings including direct family meetings and those with infants during this period.
Events and assemblies such as local festivals, briefings, and commemorations, which previously allowed participation of 500 or more people with prior notification, must now operate with fewer than 100 people per day under Level 2.
Weddings and funerals are allowed up to 99 attendees per day per wedding hall or funeral parlor, ensuring sufficient distance between participants and maintaining a density of no more than one person per 4㎡ of facility area.
Examinations must maintain a distance of at least 1.5 meters between examinees, and quarantine rules such as prohibiting entry to non-exam-related personnel must be followed.
For religious facilities, regular worship services, masses, Buddhist ceremonies, and memorial services must limit attendance to 30% of seating capacity (with two seats spaced apart). During Level 2, all meetings, events, meals, and accommodations hosted by religious facilities in Jeju are strictly prohibited.
For multi-use facilities, to prevent super-spreader events and minimize the scale of close contacts in case of infection, quarantine management based on autonomy and responsibility will be strengthened according to risk levels divided into Groups 1 to 3 to block chain infections.
Entertainment facilities classified as Group 1 (including entertainment bars, karaoke bars, clubs/nightclubs, emotional bars, and hunting pubs) will have their operating hours restricted after 10 PM.
Considering that entertainment establishments are representative 3-dense workplaces (closed spaces, crowded places, and close-contact settings) with poor ventilation, PCR testing will be proactively conducted at least once during the two weeks of Level 2 social distancing for workers in these facilities.
Group 2 facilities such as singing practice rooms (including coin-operated practice rooms) may operate until midnight, while restaurants and cafes may only offer takeout and delivery services after midnight.
Multi-use facilities such as bathhouses and direct sales promotion centers must comply with occupancy limits of one person per 8㎡ of facility area (one person per 10㎡ for clubs and nightclubs), unless otherwise specified.
Sports facilities will have different occupancy limits considering the characteristics of sports studios and GX-type facilities.
Indoor sports facilities must comply with one person per 8㎡, while GX exercises (group dance exercises, spinning, aerobics, hot yoga, etc.) and sports studios are limited to one person per 6㎡.
Group 3 facilities such as academies and private tutoring centers must choose to operate either with one seat spacing or an occupancy limit of one person per 6㎡.
Large marts, stores, and department stores over 300㎡ are prohibited from offering promotional tasting and sampling, as well as using rest areas (lounges, chairs, etc.).
