Gwangjin-gu Provides Additional 1 Million KRW Disaster Relief Fund for Artists
Applicants must be cultural and artistic professionals holding a valid Certificate of Artistic Activity as of the announcement date (July 7), with household income at or below 120% of the median income.
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seongap) will provide an additional living stabilization fund of up to 1 million KRW to local artists struggling due to COVID-19.
This living stabilization fund was prepared to support artists whose artistic activities have been suspended due to exhibition and performance cancellations following the first half of the year, enabling them to continue stable creative activities.
The support target is cultural and artistic individuals who possess a valid Certificate of Artistic Activity as of the announcement date (July 7) and whose household income is at or below 120% of the median income standard.
This time, to allow more artists to benefit, the standard amount for individual regional health insurance premiums has been adjusted from the previous 30,665 KRW to 75,224 KRW, and the criteria have been relaxed to include basic livelihood security recipients and 2020 recipients of the Arts Council Korea’s creative support fund. However, those who received support in the first half are excluded.
The application period is from July 21 to August 3. Applicants should submit the application form, consent form for collection and use of personal information, Certificate of Artistic Activity, resident registration copy, and other related documents via email (mh2021@gwangjin.go.kr). For senior artists or those who have unavoidable reasons for difficulty submitting by email, in-person submission at the Gwangjin-gu Office Culture and Sports Division is also possible.
For more details, please refer to the announcement on the district office website or contact the Culture and Sports Division.
The living stabilization fund will be paid to the applicant’s account in their name after document screening, scheduled for October.
