Namwon-si Installs Emergency Connection Water Pipe at Reservoir
[Asia Economy] Namwon City in Jeonbuk announced on the 6th that it will install emergency connection water pipes to prevent water supply interruptions caused by unexpected situations such as reservoir water pipe accidents and damage.
The city has a total of 10 reservoirs, most of which are located in high-altitude areas, making it difficult for water trucks and fire trucks to enter simultaneously.
In early January this year, an unprecedented cold wave caused many water pipes to freeze and burst, resulting in water leakage and the reservoir water level dropping to a critical stage.
To respond to unexpected accidents at construction sites and other workplaces, the city completed the installation of 100mm diameter stainless steel pipes with a total length of 36m at Daesan Reservoir and Songdong Reservoir in May, enabling the simultaneous connection of 2 to 3 water trucks and securing the capacity to store about 70 tons of water per hour.
There are plans to install about four more locations in the second half of the year.
The head of the Waterworks Office said, "We will do our best to provide stable tap water supply to citizens and will install the pipes at reservoirs where they have not yet been installed by the first half of next year."
