Jung-gu, Seoul Launches Naming Contest for Resource Circulation Education Center
Submit by July 8...
Gift Certificates Awarded for Winning Entries
Open to Jung-gu Residents and Local Workers, Up to Two Entries Per Person
[Asia Economy, reporter Park Jongil] Jung-gu District (District Mayor Seo Yangho) is accepting submissions for the name of its soon-to-open Resource Circulation Education Center until July 8.
The harm caused by daily waste is no longer just a threat to future generations, but a serious crisis confronting the current generation.
Moreover, the COVID-19 pandemic has led to a sharp increase in the use of single-use plastics and other waste, which is further exacerbating environmental damage and making abnormal weather caused by climate change a reality.
In response, the district is establishing the Resource Circulation Education Center as a facility to actively address the waste crisis and climate change together with residents. The center aims to provide a variety of resource circulation education programs and serve as a leading model for waste reduction in Jung-gu's future.
Located at 12 Toegye-ro 52-gil, Jung-gu, on the site of the former Jung-gu Volunteer Center, the Resource Circulation Education Center is a three-story building with one basement level and a total floor area of 446.41 square meters. Its main operations will include: ▲ resource circulation education and cultural activities to suppress waste generation and promote recycling, ▲ environmental education programs on climate change and natural ecology for children, youth, and residents, ▲ resident participation waste reduction projects and pilot program development.
Any individual who is a resident of Jung-gu or affiliated with a workplace, school, institution, or organization located in Jung-gu is eligible to participate in the contest, and each person may submit up to two entries. Prizes will be awarded as follows: 100,000 won in gift certificates for one grand prize winner, 50,000 won each for two excellence award winners, and 30,000 won each for three encouragement award winners.
Applicants may submit their entries via the Jung-gu District Office website or in person at the Cleaning Administration Division on the 5th floor of the district office.
Winners will be notified individually by text message. Results will also be posted on the district website in July. However, if no suitable names are submitted, the number of winners may be reduced.
For inquiries, contact the naming contest manager at the Cleaning Administration Division of the district office.
