It was confirmed that Mayor Kang came into contact with the confirmed case while visiting the funeral home for the mother of a city hall employee.
Upon learning of the contact, Mayor Kang visited the Tongyeong City Health Center on the same day to undergo a COVID-19 test. After testing negative, he entered self-quarantine until the 17th.
The city is also conducting diagnostic tests on employees who had contact with the mayor as a precaution and is currently awaiting the test results.
