Gyeonggi-do Recommends 'Diagnostic Testing Administrative Order for Academy Workers' in Suwon, Yongin, and Others
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province has recommended that six local governments within the province, including Suwon, Yongin, Goyang, Seongnam, Bucheon, and Uijeongbu, issue administrative orders for diagnostic testing targeting academy workers.
On the 6th, Ryu Young-cheol, Director of the Gyeonggi Province Health and Wellness Bureau, held a regular press conference and stated, "Recently, the number of COVID-19 cases in the metropolitan area has exceeded an average of 500 per day, with infections rapidly increasing mainly in the metropolitan area," adding, "Gyeonggi Province is making efforts to suppress the occurrence of COVID-19 confirmed cases by preparing special quarantine measures for the metropolitan area."
The recommended period for the affected areas is from the 5th to the 26th. Workers can visit temporary screening clinics or screening centers located at the academies once a week for testing. The respective local governments are expected to issue administrative orders on the 6th or 7th.
Additionally, on the 1st, the province requested city and county governments to recommend proactive COVID-19 testing for karaoke room operators and workers within the province. Part-time workers with short shifts are also included. The recommended period is from the 1st to the 14th. They must visit temporary screening clinics or screening centers within the province to receive a PCR test once a week.

The province also plans to support self-diagnostic kits for vulnerable workplaces such as call centers, logistics centers, and small to medium-sized businesses to proactively identify hidden infections in the community early through proactive testing using self-diagnostic kits.
