Popular Marvel Comics Series to Be Serialized as Color Webtoon
Construction Company and Naver Webtoon Release 'Black Widow', 'Eternals', and More
The popular Marvel Comics series 'Black Widow' will be introduced through Naver Webtoon. Publisher Sigongsa announced that the original work of the movie of the same name, which opens on the 7th, will be presented as a color webtoon starting from the 6th.
This is the first work of the 'Marvel Webtoon Project' jointly promoted by Sigongsa and Naver Webtoon. It is the first time that the original Marvel Comics, boasting a history of over 80 years, has been adapted into a webtoon. Sigongsa explained, "We judged that the vast text could be a barrier to entry for new readers, so we proposed converting Marvel Comics into vertical webtoons."
The horizontally expansive illustrations were divided into cut units, adding dynamism and greatly improving readability. Sigongsa stated, "We actively cut and pasted the panels and adjusted the speech bubbles and text size," adding, "Marvel Comics showed an encouraging response."

'Black Widow' is a comic series serialized by popular writer Mark Wade since 2016. It highlights the past and present of Natasha Romanoff, a hero and former Russian spy, with stylish illustrations and color tones. Sigongsa explained, "The fast-paced development and minimal dialogue made it suitable as the first title for the project." They also revealed, "Starting from September, we plan to serialize the originals of movies such as 'Eternals,' scheduled to open in November, as well as 'Avengers,' 'Spider-Man,' and 'Hulk.'"
