Current Police Officer Involved in 'Hundred-Million Won Mask Fraud' Suspicion Sent to Prosecution
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] An active police officer involved in a fraud suspicion related to the sale of masks worth over 100 million won has been handed over to the prosecution.
The Seongbuk Police Station in Seoul announced on the 5th that they sent Officer A, affiliated with the Jeonju Wansan Police Station, to the prosecution in mid-last month on charges of fraud and violation of the Pharmaceutical Affairs Act.
Officer A is suspected of approaching a victim during the 'mask crisis' in March last year, claiming to sell quarantine masks for corporate supply, and embezzling 200 million won in payment. One court official involved in the crime was also sent to the prosecution along with Officer A for violating the Pharmaceutical Affairs Act.
B, a former organized crime member who helped the crime by introducing Officer A as a relative to approach the victim, has already been detained and sent to prosecution.
