Naju City Supports Newlyweds with '2 Million Won Marriage Congratulatory Money'
[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] The city of Naju, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) announced on the 5th that it has revised the existing marriage encouragement fund system for newlyweds under the age of 49 residing in the region to the ‘Youth Couple Marriage Congratulatory Fund’ system and will start accepting applications for support funds from this month.
The city expanded and reorganized the support amount of the ‘Marriage Encouragement Fund’ system for encouraging marriage and stable settlement of young people from the existing 1 million KRW to 2 million KRW.
The support target is newlyweds under the age of 49 who have registered their marriage after January 1, 2021, and at least six months must have passed since the marriage registration date, with applications for support funds allowed within one year from the registration date.
Also, at least one of the spouses must be a first-time marriage, have resided in Jeollanam-do for more than one year (and in the city for more than six months) before the marriage registration date, and at the time of applying for the congratulatory fund, both spouses must have their address registered within Naju city.
Newlywed couples who meet these conditions must visit the administrative welfare center of their jurisdictional eup, myeon, or dong with one copy each of the resident registration abstract (including address changes), one detailed marriage relation certificate, identification card, and a copy of the applicant’s bankbook to apply.
After reviewing the eligibility requirements, the city plans to pay the marriage congratulatory fund of 2 million KRW in a lump sum without division by the end of the month following the application date.
Mayor Kang In-gyu said, “We hope to support the new start of young newlyweds who have settled in Naju with a new home and help them settle more stably,” adding, “We will continue to promote practical policies that can solve the problems of population decline due to low birth rates and aging, as well as the outflow of young people.”
