Ministry of the Interior and Safety Announces 'Safety Culture Best Practices' Contest... Special Grants for Outstanding Local Governments
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 5th that it will accept nominations for the '2021 Safety Culture Merit Awards' from the 6th until August 13th.
The Safety Culture Merit Awards were established to encourage the efforts of individuals and outstanding organizations who have contributed to spreading safety culture across various sectors of society, and to discover and promote exemplary cases. The awards have been held annually since 2005.
The nomination categories are broadly divided into individual and organizational sections. Organizations are further classified into local governments and private institutions. For the individual section, candidates are recommended by each institution, while the organizational section calls for outstanding cases such as activities enhancing safety awareness through public-private cooperation in COVID-19 prevention and response, as well as safety-related social contribution activities.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety will select approximately 53 recipients through a merit review process for both individual and organizational categories. Awards such as medals, Presidential citations, and Prime Minister citations will be presented at the '2021 Safety Culture Awards' ceremony scheduled for December.
Seven local governments selected as outstanding organizations will receive a total project fund of 2 billion KRW, and ten private institutions will be awarded a total prize money of 37 million KRW, distributed differentially.
