[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Nonghyup Distribution introduced a new melon variety called 'Mashimelon' for the first time on the 4th, harvested from the Jincheon area in Chungbuk.
Mashimelon is a naturally bred variety from chamoe and Hami melon, with a soft yet crisp texture. Its sweetness level is about 14 to 20 degrees Brix, the highest among chamoe and melons worldwide. It contains more than 40 times the beta-carotene compared to regular chamoe, which is effective in preventing cancer and heart disease, earning it the nickname "Beta-Carotene Chamoe."
