Gwangju Seo-gu Conducts 'Outdoor Advertising Safety Inspection' in Preparation for the Rainy Season
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shin Dong-ho] The Seo-gu District Office of Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Seo Dae-seok) is making every effort to ensure the safety of residents in preparation for flood and wind damage during the rainy season.
Seo-gu announced on the 2nd that it recently conducted safety inspections of outdoor advertisements in the district to prevent safety accidents such as falling signboards in advance.
The joint safety inspection, carried out by two teams including advertising experts, focused mainly on rooftop signboards located in areas directly affected by strong winds and signboards requiring maintenance due to aging facilities.
They also completed inspections of banners installed on designated bulletin boards, illegal banners along roadsides, A-lights, standing signboards, and streetlight banners that had been left unattended for a long time.
Based on the inspection results, administrative measures such as safety orders will be issued to vulnerable outdoor advertisements at the respective businesses, and A-lights and standing signboards installed on sidewalks will be guided to be voluntarily removed.
From July to August last year, Seo-gu estimated damage amounting to approximately 148 million KRW in 11 forest areas and 3 green areas due to heavy rainfall.
From February to May this year, restoration projects were also carried out in landslide-affected areas, spending a total of 1.2 billion KRW on 11 sites to complete forest damage restoration projects such as stone stacking, stone embankments, stone channels, and the maintenance of the landscape green space in Pungam-dong.
Even after the completion of the restoration projects, continuous safety inspections will be conducted to prevent recurrence of damage, and a prevention support headquarters is being established and operated during the summer natural disaster countermeasure period to prevent disasters in vulnerable areas.
