[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Suhwan] Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a congratulatory message to Chinese President Xi Jinping on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China on the 1st (local time), according to Russian TASS news agency.
In his congratulatory message, President Putin said, "Your country has reached a significant day with new and impressive successes in economic, social, scientific, and technological development," adding, "China plays an important and constructive role in addressing international community issues and confronting the international threats and challenges of our time."
President Putin recalled that during China's revolutionary struggle period and the formation process of the new China, "our country (the former Soviet Union) fully supported the Communist Party of China," mentioning a village called 'Pervaya Mayskaya' in Moscow.
This place was the site of the 6th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 1928, during the early days of the party's establishment. It is currently set up as a permanent exhibition hall and is known to have been recently renovated.
President Putin also emphasized that the relationship between his country's ruling party, United Russia, and the Communist Party is an important part of the partnership and strategic cooperation between the two countries, stating, "I am confident that the dialogue between the two parties will continue to develop constructively in the future."
TASS reported that President Putin wished President Xi good health and greater success in the activities of the Communist Party and the state. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the signing of the friendship and cooperation treaty between the two countries.
The two leaders held a virtual summit on the 28th of last month and officially announced the extension of the friendship and cooperation treaty between the two countries. Through this, they agreed to elevate the relationship between the two nations to a higher level.
