Sejong City, Reduction and Expansion of Eligible Recipients for Riverbed Occupation Fees
[Asia Economy (Sejong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Sejong City announced on the 2nd that it will reduce the regular river occupancy and usage fees by 25% this year, following last year.
The reduction in river occupancy fees was decided in response to the increased burden on small business owners, private businesses, and companies due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, which has dampened consumer activities.
The current "Sejong City River Occupancy Fee Imposition and Collection" regulation allows the mayor to reduce the occupancy fee by a recognized rate when the original purpose of occupancy cannot be achieved due to disasters or special circumstances.
In particular, the city will expand the scope of fee reduction from last year's limitation to private businesses to include all permit holders this year.
Through this, a total of 243 small business owners and individuals are expected to receive the reduction benefit, and the city estimates that about 68 million KRW (25%) out of the total river occupancy fee imposition amount of 272 million KRW will be reduced.
