336 COVID-19 Cases in Seoul by 9 PM... 13 More Than Previous Day
On the 30th, as the number of new COVID-19 cases approached 800 and the spread intensified, citizens were getting tested at the screening clinic of Songpa-gu Public Health Center in Seoul. The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced that as of midnight that day, there were 794 new confirmed cases, bringing the total to 156,961. The number of cases in the 700s was the highest in 25 days since April 5 (744 cases), and the 794 cases marked the highest count in 68 days since April 23 (797 cases), during the ongoing "4th wave." Although there are still three hours left before the daily count closes, this number has already surpassed the highest Thursday record this year of 269 cases recorded one week ago (June 24).
Comparing the same 21-hour period, the number is 13 cases higher than the 323 cases reported the previous day (June 30) and 71 cases higher than the 265 cases reported one week ago.
The daily number of confirmed cases in Seoul has remained above 300 for three consecutive days from June 29 to July 1.
The daily confirmed cases in Seoul surged at the end of last year but stabilized between 100 and 200 cases from spring this year. However, starting last week, the numbers have sharply increased, recording 269→263→242→185→205→375→334 cases over the past week (June 24?30).
The average daily number of confirmed cases in Seoul over the past week was 267.6, with an average of 32,332 tests conducted daily. The average positivity rate (confirmed cases relative to tests conducted the previous day) stands at approximately 0.8%.
