On the same day, Mayor Ju held a press conference at City Hall to mark the 3rd anniversary of the launch of the 7th local government, saying, "The past years have been eventful with unprecedented incidents such as the heatwave in 2018, record-breaking typhoons Mitag and Tapah in 2019, and last year's novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19)."
He cited achievements over the past three years, including the relaxation of height restrictions in downtown and Gujeong-dong areas, the environmental improvement project for Hope Farm in Cheonbuk-myeon, a long-standing issue for over 40 years, and the preparation of utilization plans for the abandoned Sonkok-dong and Mulcheon-ri racetrack sites following the cancellation of a national project.
Mayor Ju said he will focus on establishing a foundation for strategic industries, revitalizing culture and tourism sectors such as the restoration of Silla Royal Palace, and creating prosperous rural farming and fishing villages.
He added, "The leap to a premium city was possible by overcoming crises through the full cooperation and sacrifice of citizens," and pledged, "We will concentrate administrative efforts on strengthening communication channels such as citizen petitions, citizen roundtable meetings, and Sarangbang discussions."

When asked about his intention to run for re-election, Mayor Ju said, "I will follow public opinion and the party's decision," and expressed his willingness to run again, stating, "Over the past three years, I have laid the foundation for a new leap forward for Gyeongju, and if given the opportunity, I would like to see it through to completion."
