[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Geoje City in Gyeongnam announced on the 1st that it held an investment attraction briefing session targeting 12 heads of major construction companies' Yeongnam branches, including the head of GS Construction's Yeongnam branch, to explore ways to attract investment for the stagnant tourism industry and new growth strategic projects.
At the briefing, the city explained that the investment conditions in Geoje are showing a green light due to the early commencement of the Southern Inland Railway construction between Gimcheon and Geoje, a long-awaited project for residents of western Gyeongnam, and the passage of the Gadeok New Airport Special Act in the National Assembly plenary session.
It then introduced projects being promoted to attract 10 million tourists, such as the Geoje Cable Car project scheduled for completion in December, the Haegumgang leisure facility construction project scheduled to start in December, and the Sodong Marine Condo Minium project, for which an investment agreement worth 342 billion won was signed with Arepose Geoje Co., Ltd. in June.
Finally, the city emphasized active administrative support for the successful promotion of ongoing private investment projects and requested active investment consideration to establish experiential tourism infrastructure, which is lacking in Geoje.
