Incheon Airport Corporation Hosts 'Global Extended Reality Film Festival'
Co-hosted with Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Incheon International Airport Corporation announced that it will jointly host the world's first global Extended Reality (XR) film festival 'XR3' with the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival from the 1st to the 18th at Incheon Airport Terminal 1 Transportation Center.
Extended Reality refers to ultra-realistic technologies and services encompassing virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), holograms, and substitute reality (SR).
The film festival was planned in collaboration with leading XR genre organizers such as the Cannes and NewImages (Paris) film festivals in France, which have secured top-level recognition, to overcome the global downturn in the film industry caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Domestically, the festival is co-hosted by Incheon International Airport Corporation and the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, which has gained worldwide fame in the immersive content genre since 2016.

View original imageThe festival, held from the 1st to the 18th at the Amazing Square on the B1 floor of Incheon Airport Terminal 1 Transportation Center, will screen works such as Baba Yaga, Tree, Paper Bird, Crow, and Campfire through the 'Baobab Studio Special Exhibition,' a leader in VR animation. XR3 works co-hosted by Cannes and NewImages film festivals will be available for viewing from the 6th.
The festival operates on a reservation basis and plans to limit the number of viewers to a maximum of 30 per time slot to comply with COVID-19 prevention guidelines. Meanwhile, about 20 officials, including Kim Kyung-wook, President of Incheon International Airport Corporation, and Jung Ji-young, Chairperson of the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival Organizing Committee, attended the opening ceremony held at Incheon Airport Terminal 1 Transportation Center. The ceremony was conducted in compliance with COVID-19 prevention guidelines.
