A Presidential Office-Affiliated 'National Education Commission' Will Be Established
Passed in the Plenary Session on the 1st
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] A presidential advisory body called the 'National Education Committee' will be established to promote mid- to long-term education policies.
The National Assembly held a plenary session on the 1st and passed the bill titled the 'Act on the Establishment and Operation of the National Education Committee,' which includes these provisions.
The National Education Committee is an organization that formulates mid- to long-term education systems and improvements in conditions, such as school systems, teacher policies, university admission policies, and the appropriate number of students per class. It is an administrative committee under the president, composed of a total of 21 members. When forming the committee, students or youth, parents, and others are also included. The chairperson is appointed by the president from among the standing members. The establishment of the National Education Committee was also a campaign pledge of President Moon Jae-in.

The bill includes a one-year grace period.
