Jeonnam 119 Ambulance, No Abnormalities in Hospital-Acquired Bacterial Infection
113 Samples Collected... All 565 Cases Tested Negative for Bacteria
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] All 119 ambulances owned by Jeonnam Fire Department have been confirmed to be safe from bacterial infections.
The Jeonnam Fire Headquarters (Chief Ma Jaeyoon) announced on the 1st that all samples collected from 113 ambulances owned by fire stations in the province tested safe from infection after conducting pathogenic bacteria tests.
The full inspection of 119 ambulances was conducted to identify contamination status of ambulances transporting patients with various diseases and to maintain a safe emergency treatment environment, thereby preventing secondary infections not only for emergency patients but also for paramedics in advance.
The test items included four types of pathogenic bacteria causing high fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain (Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus, Pneumococcus, Bacillus cereus). Samples were collected from five areas frequently used in ambulances, such as the driver's seat and main stretcher.
All 565 tests conducted on 113 ambulances showed no detection of pathogenic bacteria, proving them to be 'germ-free' clean ambulances.
The Jeonnam Fire Headquarters plans to hold infection prevention committee meetings, operate infection control offices, and outsource disinfection to specialized companies for continuous infection management.
