Media Art Museum 'Noctemare' Opens in Manheung-dong, Yeosu City
Agreement to Establish 'Noctemare' Museum, a 14 Billion Investment, 4700㎡ Space of Light and Memory
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shim Kyung-taek] A media art digital museum based on local tourism resources and various cultural contents will be built in the Manheung-dong area of Yeosu-si, Jeollanam-do.
On the 29th, Yeosu City held an investment agreement for the activation of knowledge information cultural industry with Shinwon Co., Ltd. at the situation room, attended by about 10 officials including Yeosu Mayor Kwon Oh-bong and Shinwon CEO Jung Kwan-woo.
According to the city, the media art museum "Noctemare" will invest 14 billion KRW over approximately 1,400 pyeong (about 4,628 square meters) to install "a space of light and memory through media art" and convenience facilities, offering visitors vivid and moving experiences with diverse and new attractions.
The museum is planned to consist of a total of eight halls, with participation from director Kim Yeon-gon, a former general director of the Yeosu World Expo Marine Industry Technology Hall and a spatial director, pop art artist Lim Ji-bin, famous for Love Bear, and singer Jeok Jae, well known to the public for "Let's Go Stargazing," generating high expectations.
"Noctemare" is a compound word of night and sea, and it is a media art museum set against the backdrop of Yeosu's representative natural scenery, the Yeosu night sea. Unlike previous media art museums that utilized existing buildings, it is designed as a dedicated media art building, marking a significant distinction.
