Gwangju Dong-gu Prioritizes Residents' Life and Safety with 'Organizational Restructuring'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek) has carried out an organizational restructuring prioritizing the life and safety of residents.
On the 28th, Dong-gu announced that it will promote a second-half organizational restructuring focused on strengthening safety management functions to protect residents' lives and safety and improve their quality of life.
They have prepared an organizational restructuring plan to strengthen the resident safety management system and proactively respond to single-person household policies, and plan to submit related ordinance proposals to the Dong-gu Council's extraordinary session next month.
This restructuring plan emphasizes residents' safety to prevent the recurrence of fatal accidents like the recent collapse accident during demolition in the Hakdong 4 District redevelopment.
First, the Resident Safety Division will be reorganized into the Resident Safety Officer and operated as an agency directly under the Deputy Mayor. A 'Social Disaster Team' will be established to prepare for the rapidly increasing social disasters, and an 'Architectural Safety Task Force' will be newly created to strengthen building management.
Additionally, they will promptly promote the establishment of a Regional Architectural Safety Center to enhance expertise in building safety management by recruiting experts such as structural engineers, and form a pool of personnel for safety advisory groups including safety consultants to establish the effectiveness of the district's safety administration. Furthermore, a 'Village Autonomy Division' will be newly established to expand village-level resident autonomy, and a 'Population Policy Team' will be created to proactively respond to the highest nationwide rate of single-person households.
Moreover, a 'Legal and Regulatory Team' will be established to strengthen civil complaint management such as through the National Sinmungo, and a 'Future Industry Team' will be created to generate future growth engines, flexibly responding to diverse administrative demands of residents in line with changing times.
