Kim Sehun, Graduate of Dongshin University Military Science Department, Top Commissioned Officer Awarded 'Presidential Award'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Graduates of the Military Science Department at Dongshin University are making headlines as they continue to achieve top honors, including receiving the Presidential Award for the highest scores at the officer commissioning ceremony.
According to Dongshin University on the 28th, at the 66th Officer Candidate Commissioning Ceremony held on the 25th, Second Lieutenant Kim Sehun (23), a graduate of the Military Science Department (4th class) at Dongshin University, received the Presidential Award for ranking first among 478 officer candidates.
Second Lieutenant Kim, who graduated in February this year, underwent 16 weeks of training in tactics, combat skills, and military science, and reportedly received the highest evaluation across all categories in the comprehensive commissioning assessment.
Since its establishment in 2014, the Military Science Department at Dongshin University has produced outstanding results, including this Presidential Award, the top graduate at the Army Mechanized School in 2018 (Army Chief of Staff Award), and the top Marine Corps officer in 2019 (Minister of National Defense Award).
Additionally, from 2018 to 2021, all graduates from the 1st to 4th classes (100 students) have been commissioned as officers, setting a remarkable record.
This achievement is attributed to a systematic education system that begins with character development, physical training, and preparation for officer selection exams even before admission.
In fact, the Military Science Department at Dongshin University enforces a graduation certification system that mandates at least a 1st Dan in Taekwondo, a top physical fitness grade, TOEIC/TOEFL scores of 650/550 or higher, and acquisition of computer proficiency certification.
To support this, Taekwondo, English conversation, computer practical skills, military camp experience, and physical training are organized and operated as either regular or non-regular courses.
Programs such as the English Military Academy, overseas training, exercise prescription center, and health promotion center are actively supported for students.
