Improving Quality of Life by Reducing Maritime Transportation Costs... Jindo-gun's Independent Support Project
[Jindo=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do, will implement a 1000 won fare system starting from the 1st of next month to reduce the transportation costs burden for island residents.
According to the county on the 28th, the 1000 won passenger ferry fare system for island residents is a Jindo-gun self-support project that allows any resident registered in Jodo-myeon and Jindo-eup Jeodo to use the passenger ferry for only 1000 won regardless of distance.
This is implemented to reduce the transportation cost burden of island residents using maritime transportation in island areas under more difficult conditions compared to the mainland and to improve their quality of life.
Currently, under the ‘Passenger Ferry Fare Support Project for Island Residents’ implemented by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, a 50% discount is applied for sections under 8,340 won, and for sections above that, fares are supported up to a maximum of 5,000 won.
The county revised related ordinances and recently established and completed a computerized work system to improve transportation welfare for island residents.
