Seongnam City Expands Support Project for Apartment Remodeling
[Asia Economy (Seongnam) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province will additionally select and support public support complexes for apartment remodeling.
Seongnam City announced on the 28th that it will select remodeling public support complexes through a public contest and accept applications for target complexes from August 9 to 13.
The application targets are apartment complexes in Seongnam that have been completed for more than 15 years and have a resident consent rate of over 10%.
The apartment remodeling application must be submitted in the name of the residents' representative meeting directly to the Housing Division on the 7th floor of Seongnam City Hall.
The city will comprehensively evaluate the resident consent rate for remodeling, project feasibility, and select public support complexes in November. If the number of applicant complexes exceeds 10, two complexes will be selected.
The city will administratively support resident briefings and other activities for the selected complexes.
After obtaining consent from more than 50% of the entire complex or each building owner, financial support such as remodeling housing association establishment service fees and basic design costs will be provided according to related ordinances.
The city has been supporting remodeling for six complexes since starting this project in 2014.
The previously selected complexes are ▲ Jeongja-dong Hansolmaeul Jugong 5 Complex (1,156 households) ▲ Jeongja-dong Neutimauel 3 Complex (770 households) ▲ Jeongja-dong Neutimauel 4 Complex (1,006 households) ▲ Yatap-dong Maehwa Maeul 1 Complex (562 households) ▲ Yatap-dong Maehwa Maeul 2 Complex (1,185 households) ▲ Gumi-dong Mujigae Maeul 4 Complex (563 households).
Among these, the remodeling project plans for Hansolmaeul Jugong 5 Complex and Mujigae Maeul 4 Complex, using horizontal and annex expansion methods, have been approved.
The remodeling project proceeds in the order of association establishment → safety diagnosis → safety review → landscape, urban planning, architectural review → rights change plan general meeting → sale request → activity permit and project plan approval → relocation and construction start → move-in.
To facilitate smooth support, the city plans to increase the remodeling fund from the current 54.3 billion KRW to 100 billion KRW by 2023.
By the end of this year, a dedicated organization called the Remodeling Center will be established within City Hall to carry out related system improvements, support policy research and development, and consulting considering the conditions and demands of each complex.

There are 247 apartment complexes (121,032 households) in Seongnam that are eligible for remodeling, having been completed for more than 15 years.
