462 New COVID-19 Cases Nationwide by 9 PM... 78 Fewer Than Previous Day (Comprehensive)
Capital Region 373 Cases... 80.7% of Total Confirmed Cases
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] From midnight to 9 p.m. on the 27th, 462 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed nationwide.
According to the quarantine authorities and local governments including Seoul City, the number of new domestic COVID-19 cases from midnight to 9 p.m. on that day was counted at 462. This is 78 fewer than the same time the previous day (540 cases).
By region, Seoul reported 181 cases, Gyeonggi 161 cases, and Incheon 31 cases, with the metropolitan area totaling 373 cases, accounting for 80.7% of all confirmed cases. In non-metropolitan areas, Busan reported 20 cases, Gangwon 17 cases, Ulsan and Chungnam 8 cases each, Gwangju and Daejeon 7 cases each, Gyeongnam 6 cases, Daegu and Chungbuk 5 cases each, Jeonnam and Jeju 2 cases each, and Jeonbuk and Gyeongbuk 1 case each. Except for Sejong, confirmed cases were reported in all 17 other cities and provinces nationwide.
With about three hours remaining until the midnight cutoff for data aggregation, the number of new confirmed cases announced at 0:00 on the 28th is expected to be in the 500s. On the previous day, 74 additional cases were confirmed after 9 p.m.
The daily number of new confirmed cases, which had dropped to the 300s earlier last week, has been maintaining the 600s since midweek. Over the past week since the 21st, the average daily number of new confirmed cases has been about 560.

Cluster infections linked to daily life activities such as schools, academies, and gatherings of acquaintances continue across the country. At a middle school in Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province, after one staff member was confirmed positive on the 17th, 10 more cases were confirmed among other staff, students, and their families. At a private tutoring center in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, 14 people have tested positive since the 22nd. A cluster infection that started from a native speaker instructor gathering continues to spread, with confirmed cases exceeding 100 related to five English academies in Seongnam, Bucheon, Goyang, and Uijeongbu areas in Gyeonggi Province.
