NanoCMS, Benefiting from Increase in High-Denomination Banknote Issuance
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Kiwoom Securities analyzed on the 27th that the importance of security materials is increasing due to the rise in the issuance of 50,000-won bills for Nano CMS.
Researcher Dohyun Kim of Kiwoom Securities explained, "The importance of security materials is growing due to the increase in high-denomination bills," adding, "As COVID-19 prolongs, the tendency to hold cash has increased, leading to higher demand for high-denomination bills."
He continued, "The order volume for 50,000-won bills this year is expected to exceed 20 trillion won and approach 25 trillion won," and added, "It is anticipated that the order volume for Nano CMS materials will increase."
Furthermore, he analyzed, "In the case of high-denomination bills, there is a possibility of material changes to extend the lifespan of the currency," and "There is a growing need to change the material from traditional cotton fiber to polymer (polypropylene)."
Researcher Kim emphasized, "It is used in over 50 countries including the United Kingdom," and "It is understood that domestic banks are also reviewing this for entry into European, African, and Asian markets."
He stated, "It is considered an appropriate time to have expectations for new orders related to material changes for Nano CMS," and predicted, "Nano CMS will enter overseas markets through collaboration with the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation."

He added, "Nano CMS has been supplying materials to the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation for 13 years," and "There is a history of jointly entering overseas national security markets in the past."
