Chungnam Invests 40.9 Billion KRW Over 5 Years to Support Employment Stability in 'Chimney Industry'
[Asia Economy (Hongseong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chungnam Province will officially launch the ‘2021 Employment Stability Preemptive Response Package Support Project’ from the end of this month.
According to the province on the 27th, this project is a Ministry of Employment and Labor public contest project that focuses on supporting mid- to long-term job projects in regions at risk of employment crises. Chungnam was selected in the contest last April.
Based on the selection results, the province will promote employment stability projects with a budget of 40.9 billion KRW, including 32.7 billion KRW in national funds, until 2025.
The expected employment creation target through the project is 5,530 people (about 1,100 people annually). This year, the province will invest a budget of 8.19 billion KRW to assist 470 people with vocational training and provide employment incentives to 400 people. Additionally, 242 companies will be supported.
First, to respond to the employment crisis of partner company workers due to the phased closure of coal-fired power plants, the province will support everything from job analysis for workers to customized workforce training programs and linking jobs within local industrial complexes through job transfer and career change services.
Also, to stabilize employment in the province’s automotive parts industry, which has been stagnated due to the transition to eco-friendly vehicles and the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, technical support for the development of eco-friendly material parts and technical consultations for performance improvement will be conducted.
Corporate support will be promoted by encouraging internal combustion engine-centered automotive parts companies to transition their businesses to future eco-friendly automotive parts industries such as hydrogen and electric vehicles, and by assisting promising companies in the eco-friendly sector with testing, evaluation, certification, and commercialization.
Through vocational education and training, the project will cultivate customized personnel needed for key local industries and human resources with enhanced competitiveness for new growth industries, including automotive parts design and verification personnel, as well as convergence talents in solar, hydrogen energy, and future automotive fields.
