According to Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, on the 25th, the event was organized on the 24th by the Western Regional Forest Service, bringing together local governments, related organizations, and experts who have worked together to create and operate the Jirisan Dullegil, to celebrate its designation as a National Forest Trail.
After the walking event, participants took time to pledge sustainable development of the Jirisan Dullegil and cooperation among institutions in the future.
The Jirisan Dullegil surrounds Jirisan, the highest mountain in the South Korean mainland. It is a long-distance walking trail with a total length of 289 km, created from 2007 to 2012, connecting 120 villages across 5 cities and counties (Namwon, Gurye, Hamyang, Sancheong, Hadong) in 3 provinces (Jeonbuk, Jeonnam, Gyeongnam), and is one of Korea's representative forest trails.
The Korea Forest Service recognized the high forest ecological, historical, and cultural value of the Jirisan Dullegil and designated it as a National Forest Trail on May 1st.
