On the 25th, the "Last Conscription Police Recruitment Exam" is being held at the Mobile Headquarters of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency in Jung-gu, Seoul. Examinees are taking the push-up test. The National Police Agency announced that the conscription police recruitment exam will end on the 15th of next month, following the "Conscription Police Gradual Reduction and Police Workforce Expansion Plan" initiated in 2018. The final conscripted police recruitment exam was held on the 25th at the Mobile Headquarters of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency in Jung-gu, Seoul, ahead of the complete abolition of the conscripted police system in 2023. A total of 10,336 applicants applied for the last exam. Among them, 329 were selected. By category, the competition ratio was 35.3 to 1 for general conscripted police and 7.9 to 1 for special conscripted police (large vehicle driving, cooking, medical).

The selected candidates will enlist in October and November as the 1141st and 1142nd classes. The final class, the 1142nd, will be discharged in May 2023 when the conscripted police system is officially abolished. Since the first recruitment exam was held in November 1982, a total of 378 exams have been conducted over more than 40 years. With the reduction and abolition of the conscripted police, their duties such as responding to demonstrations and protests, guarding key facilities, and base duty will be replaced by police riot squads and security personnel at police stations.
