This plaque of appreciation was prepared to honor the noble spirit of sacrifice of the veterans who risked their lives on the battlefield to protect the homeland on the 71st anniversary of the 6.25 War this year and to express gratitude.
The oldest recipient among those awarded the plaque of appreciation, 99-year-old Mr. Yoon Yong-bu, received the plaque directly from Mayor Park Il-ho, who visited his home and conveyed gratitude on behalf of the citizens.
On the day, Chairman Ha Jeom-su, who received the plaque of appreciation, said, "I was worried that the pain and lessons of the war might fade from everyone's memory as the commemorative events were canceled last year and this year due to COVID-19, but receiving the plaque made me feel like a young veteran again, and it was a moving experience."
Mayor Park said, "The young people who took the lead for the country in the whirlpool of war are now mostly in their 90s or older," and added, "I thank the white-haired veterans who burned their youth for the homeland, and we will continue to make efforts to improve the treatment and respect so that veterans can live with pride."
