Apple Releases 6.7-Inch 'iPhone Max' at Record Low Price in 2022
[Asia Economy Reporter Joselgina] There are predictions that Apple will release a more affordable 6.7-inch 'iPhone Max' in 2022. It is also expected that the budget smartphone iPhone SE 5G will be introduced in the first half of the same year.
IT specialized media PhoneArena and 9to5Mac reported this on the 24th (local time), citing analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of Taiwan's TF International Securities, who is well known for accurately predicting Apple's new product specifications.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that Apple will release two low-end iPhones and two high-end iPhones in 2022, each in 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch sizes. Accordingly, the 2022 iPhone lineup is highly likely to consist of four models: ▲6.1-inch iPhone 14 (base model) ▲6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro ▲6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max ▲6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo stated that among these, the iPhone 14 Max will be the lowest-priced 6.7-inch iPhone ever. He cited the growth drivers for the 2022 iPhone as ▲the possibility of supporting an under-display fingerprint sensor using Apple's own technology ▲the lowest price ever for a large iPhone ▲an upgrade to a 48MP camera for high-end models.
In particular, he predicted that "the price of the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max or the budget model will be set below $900." Currently, the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max is priced at $1,099.
PhoneArena reported, "The category of phones over 6 inches is dominated by Samsung Electronics," and added, "Apple commissioned a smartphone purchasing habit report from consumers last year, and it is known that this decision was made after reviewing that report."
This forecast also reconfirms that the 5.4-inch iPhone Mini is excluded from the iPhone 14 lineup. Previously, there were numerous reports that Apple had stopped production of the iPhone 12 Mini due to lower-than-expected sales.
Additionally, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo stated that the iPhone SE 5G, to be released in the first half of next year, will be the cheapest 5G iPhone ever. The iPhone SE is Apple's budget model.
