According to the Busan Saha Police Station and Busan Disaster and Safety Headquarters, at around 2:30 PM on the 24th, flames and smoke erupted on the second floor of a five-story pilotis-structured villa located in Gamcheon-dong.
The fire was completely extinguished by 2:46 PM, about 15 minutes later.
The fire rescue team dispatched to the scene searched inside the villa and found two people in the master bedroom, but they were already deceased.
The police estimate that the two were a couple in their 50s living in the house.
The police believe that a flammable liquid container caught fire in the master bedroom, causing a thinner explosion that spread the fire.
The fire damaged four floors of the villa, causing a commotion as residents evacuated.
Two residents on the third and fifth floors of the same building evacuated to the rooftop after the explosion.
The second floor was completely burned, and property damage followed, including soot on the villa’s exterior walls and broken veranda windows.
As the fire spread throughout the building, a company sign on the first floor above the pilotis was damaged, and part of the building’s exterior wall was burned. Additionally, fragments from the broken veranda windows fell below the building, covering one vehicle, and two passengers were transported to a nearby hospital.
