Gwangju City Approves Promotion Candidates for the Second Half of 2021
'Work and Performance' Focused... Comprehensive Consideration of Leadership and Integrity
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 24th that it held a personnel committee meeting and carried out promotion personnel appointments for 175 people.
The vacancies due to retirement for service, honorary retirement, etc. include 1 at grade 2, 2 at grade 3 (including 1 acting), 13 at grade 4 (including 3 acting), 37 at grade 5, 57 at grade 6, 35 at grade 7, and 30 at grade 8.
To strengthen the driving force in the second half of the 7th elected term and to stabilize the organization, under the personnel principle centered on ‘work and performance,’ positions at the director and section chief level or higher were comprehensively considered based on contribution to city administration, current rank appointment date, innovation performance, leadership, and integrity.
For grade 5 and below, the objective evaluation criterion of the promotion candidate list ranking was respected, but emphasis was placed on balanced personnel across departments, selecting those who produced results in current tasks and key female executive officials in important positions.
In particular, Park Hyang, promoted to grade 2 and appointed as Director of the Welfare and Health Bureau, is a medical expert who contributed to establishing an infectious disease response system and preventing spread through proactive COVID-19 testing and rapid epidemiological investigations.
Park Sang-baek, promoted to grade 3 and Budget Officer, contributed to stabilizing people’s livelihoods, revitalizing the local economy, and realizing the era of 30 trillion won in national funds through expanding local finances. Lee Jeong-seok, acting grade 3 and Chief Secretary, as the most senior secretary, was recognized for his contributions to publicizing the city subway Line 2, assisting mayoral policies, and strengthening internal and external communication.
Additionally, many public officials who made significant contributions to major city administration issues such as COVID-19 response job creation and livelihood stabilization measures, welfare infrastructure establishment including the Social Service Agency, large-scale industrial complex remodeling projects, and strengthening investment attraction competitiveness were promoted in large numbers.
