Distribution of Air Purifiers to 'Young Child Families' Near Chungnam Thermal Power Plant
[Asia Economy (Hongseong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chungnam Province announced on the 24th that it will distribute air purifiers to households with infants living near coal-fired power plants in Boryeong, Dangjin, Seocheon, and Taean.
The distribution of air purifiers is being promoted for the purpose of managing the health of infants and preventing damage, in accordance with the "Ordinance on the Distribution of Air Purifiers to Households with Infants around Coal-Fired Power Plants in Chungnam."
The target recipients are households with infants (born in 2020-2021) residing within a 5 km radius of coal-fired power plants, including Jugyo-myeon and Ocheon-myeon in Boryeong City, Seokmun-myeon in Dangjin City, Seo-myeon in Seocheon County, and Wonbok-myeon and Iwon-myeon in Taean County.
Eligibility requires that the infant’s parents have had their address registered in the relevant area for at least 10 months prior to January 1 of the application year, and that the infant has actually resided at the registered address since birth.
Applications for air purifier distribution can be made by the parents or guardians by visiting the relevant eup, myeon, or dong office and submitting the application form along with related documents such as copies of the applicant’s and infant’s resident registration or family relation certificates, and transcripts.

A provincial official stated, “By December, a total of 95 air purifiers will be distributed to households with infants around coal-fired power plants, and indoor air quality will be measured before and after distribution. We will spare no administrative support for the healthy growth and development of infants.”
