Over three days, they visited abalone farms in seven towns and townships including Wando, Gunoe, Geumil, Yaksan, Nohwa, Soan, and Cheongsan to inspect the sites and provided customized education to fishermen on aquaculture methods suited to the farm environments.
The main training content included explanations and Q&A sessions on abalone breeding and management techniques to prepare for high water temperatures by predicting the spawning period for each farm, as well as methods to reduce mortality rates.
Governor Shin Woo-cheol stated, “Although there was no high water temperature damage in our county last year, this year, due to the increase in coastal water temperature, damage is expected from mid-July,” and urged fishermen to practice early abalone shipment and to leave one row of cages empty to prevent any damage.
