“Sea Turtle, Why Did You Eat the Plastic?” Pukyong National University Launches Outreach ‘Youth Marine Humanities’ Program
Special Lectures by Marine Experts Including Researchers and Children's Book Authors for Elementary and Middle School Students
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-soo) is conducting a unique lecture program called "Youth Maritime Humanities," which combines the humanities with the sea for elementary and middle school students in the Busan area.
The Pukyong National University Humanities Korea Plus (HK+) Project Group (Director Son Dong-joo) will visit Daedong Middle School and Cheongdong Elementary School in Busan from July 2 to 9 to hold the "2021 Youth Maritime Humanities Lecture: The Meeting of Northeast Asian Maritime Culture and Humanities" program.
This program was prepared by the Pukyong National University HK+ Project Group to help understand the sea through lectures on the history, culture, and marine environment of the Northeast Asian maritime area, including Busan, and to promote familiarity with the sea and its humanistic value.
Special lectures by the Pukyong National University HK+ Project Group will feature professors and researchers from Pukyong National University, researchers from local research institutions, fairy tale writers, entrepreneurs, and experts from various fields delivering unique lectures.
Engaging stories include "The History of Exchange and Fusion Contained in Donkatsu" (Gong Mi-hee, HK Research Professor at Pukyong National University), "Polar Oceans, Surviving Below Freezing" (Kim Hak-jun, Professor of Chemistry at Pukyong National University), "How Did the Green Sea Turtle Swallow Plastic?" (Lee Sang-mi, Fairy Tale Writer), "The World Seen from the Sky and Underwater by Drone" (Jang Seon-woong, CEO of Irem Technology Development Co., Ltd.), and "Mysterious Stories of Marine Life" (Oh Hyun-joo, Researcher at the National Institute of Fisheries Science).
