iWons Develops Ultra-High-Density Ceramic Coating Technology Applying 6th Generation OLED Components
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] I-ONE S, a semiconductor and display ultra-precision cleaning and coating specialist company, is targeting the display parts market by developing the industry's first ultra-high-density ceramic coating technology applicable to ultra-large displays.
On the 22nd, I-ONE S announced that it succeeded in developing a room-temperature spray coating technology applicable to ultra-large display parts such as 6th generation and above OLEDs. I-ONE S developed the room-temperature spray coating technology with government investment support through the 'World Class 300' research project selected in 2017.
The room-temperature spray coating technology sprays fine ceramic powder onto the surface of semiconductor and display parts to form an ultra-high-density ceramic layer. It can form an ultra-high-density ceramic layer without separate processes or heat treatment, resulting in excellent cost reduction effects due to process simplification.
I-ONE S plans to actively supply parts for deposition and etching processes, which are core processes in ultra-large display manufacturing, by utilizing the independently developed room-temperature spray coating technology.
Ceramic parts used in existing ultra-large display deposition and etching processes have been criticized for cost issues due to frequent replacement. By using the room-temperature spray coating technology developed by I-ONE S, the replacement cycle is expected to increase about threefold compared to existing ceramic parts, leading to significant cost savings.
Lee Moon-gi, CEO of I-ONE S, said, “The room-temperature spray coating technology overcomes the problems and limitations of existing coating technologies and is expected to become a core technology in future ultra-large display manufacturing. We are currently promoting the establishment of facilities to mass-produce ultra-large display process parts using this technology.”
