On the 22nd, the NTS announced that it awarded seven officials, including Hwang Byeonggwang and Kim Sangdong, national tax investigators at the headquarters, with the Proactive Administration Excellence Award.
Hwang, selected as the best case, devised a plan to forcibly collect virtual assets from high-amount tax delinquents at a time when urgent measures were needed to address asset concealment using virtual assets. He succeeded in forcibly collecting virtual assets worth approximately 33.6 billion KRW in cash or securing bonds from 2,416 high-amount tax delinquents, marking the first such success among government agencies. He also shared his know-how on forcibly collecting virtual assets with the Korea Customs Service and local governments.
Kim, who received an excellence award, was recognized for his contribution to helping taxpayers fulfill their tax obligations by publishing a booklet titled "Housing and Taxes," which consolidates housing tax information through collaboration with related ministries, and posting it for free on a website to alleviate taxpayers' difficulties in understanding various housing tax regulations.
Additionally, awards were given to Park Hyunju, a computer affairs officer who introduced the "Hometax Navigation" service guiding users through Hometax usage paths; Yoon Jungho, a national tax investigator who implemented fingerprint authentication for mobile issuance of electronic tax invoices; and Nam Bonggeun, head of national tax statistics, who supported local governments' COVID-19 relief administration with customized national tax statistical analysis data.
